june updates

I am almost at my 9 month mark and I really think I need to be doing some more protective styles. So I am trying to work that out. I really want to learn how to cornrown and twist my own hair so that I don't have to depend on anyone else to do it. So this weekend I set out to do that. I have been using this color in my hair that is permanent and I think that is my first hair mistake. I hate it. It's growing out and in order to keep it looking right I would have to keep coloring it. So I said enough with that. I used Jazzing semiperm Black cherry hair color to make my hair darker and I will use that till I get ready to cut the other color off.

First off I want to start by saying Congrats to Nicole on your BC. I got permission so I'm posting her pic for you all to see. Isnt she adoroable??

I took my braids out last week ya'll they were looking all kinds of hurt.
I couldnt take it anymore. So I took them out and it only took me oe hour. I put conditioner on the hair and that helped the braids to practically slide right out. I got my mom to twist it for me and I intended to wear them as a part of my protective style challenge that Donna talked about on her blog but I dunno.

These twists arent seeing the light of day. THey are too far apart. Perhaps if they were smaller. In any case the good news is that I got them to stay together instead of unraveling. I used shealoe on them (combination of shea butter and aloe vera) and that is holding them together rather nicely. Normally they are all out by now. So for that I am excited.

This weekend though I wore my first frohawk. I thought it came out kinda nice.

I used PhytoDefrisant to help with the frizziness. It was OK - I don't think I will buy it again. It cost me $26 bucks and somehow it just doesnt seem worth it. It's supposed to cut down the frizziness but on the instructions it talks about straigtening and yeah I wasnt quite feeling that part at all.

Antsy

Sunday will 3 weeks since I had these braids in and I am so ready to take these suckas out. I want to hold on for a month and then take them out and condition and trim and baby my hair. I miss my own hair but I like the braids because it's giving me a resting period. I think I want to color it again but I'm not too sure....I will see how the mood strikes me. I took a few braids on in the front because they looked like they were tugging my ends and I didnt want my temples to break off. I think tonight through I may just cut it short and wear it like that for the last week...maybe even 2 weeks if I can sweing it.

braid update

its been a week since I got the braids done and they are holding up. I cleaned my scalp yesterday with witch hazel and made a spritz for my hair with rosemary, peppermint, sage and orange oil to cut the stink and some gylcerin for good measure. But I am already missing my hair but I'm going to hold these bad boys for at least a month. In a week or so I think I'm going to cut it so that its shorter, just to give it a different look. Here are some pictures:

A Million lil braids

I got my hair braided this weekend by a woman that a fellow nappy told me about. She did micros and only charged me $45-WHICH is way less than I am used to paying. The braids are ok. The only thing I didnt like was that it took too long. I went saturday about 5:30 she started braiding by about 11:30 she was only half done- and then she was saying she wasnt feeling well, so I stayed by L and then in the morning helped him make some wings for his superbowl party and then went back to the lady to finish the hair. It came out ok...I dont know how long I will keep it in though..cuz i know me.

Vanity is thy name

I am so loving my hair these days. I twisted it last night with shea butter for the first time and then did a twist out.. my hair is nice and fluffy and soft and I like it. Yesterday I WON!! a contest through Buttafly ULTD and I won a free I love my hair t-shirt. As soon as I get the shirt I will take a pic and share. I cant wait! Oh yeah and this weekend I am attending my first nappturality gathering - so I am excited about that as well. I cant wait!
